Churches and faith groups in Tarrant County, Texas, are committed to providing assistance to the working poor. Whether it's money for rent, gas vouchers, medicine, free food, or help with electricity bills, local churches in Fort Worth and its surrounding communities are ready to lend a helping hand. At Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County, they are dedicated to ending homelessness one person at a time. They strive to provide love, hope, respect and a fresh start for the homeless.
Love Acts is another organization that facilitates community outreach programs that are continuously improving people's lives. These programs are made possible by the generous donations of those who believe in their mission to be the hands and feet of Jesus in Tarrant County. Every third Sunday of the month, Love Acts hosts an event at 201 S. Vickery corner in association with Deep Love Ministries Outreach and Freedom in Worship Church.
At these events, Love Acts offers prayers, encouragement and information on substance recovery with invitations to LCTC recovery meetings. They also provide bibles, resource guidance on services for the homeless, and the Love Acts Post Office mail service. Christian Connection is an extension program of St. Michael's Catholic Church that helps parishioners and people living in Bedford and Euless.
Funded by contributions from parishioners, Christian Connection provides temporary and emergency assistance for rent, utilities, miscellaneous minor expenses and minor auto repairs. They also offer pharmacy, gas and food coupons; however attendance is limited to twice in a twelve-month period. LoveActs also trains and equips volunteers, groups and churches to be effective in ministering and supporting those in need. They provide a team of volunteers to help perform the annual count of the homeless population in Tarrant County (TCHC).
